Story time

I came upstairs one day recently to find Lexi reading to Miles. I guess she dressed for the part.

Jeremiah reading before bedtime.

Making cupcakes with Dad

Troy got out Lexi's new cupcake maker and helped the kids each make their own cupcakes.

Making sure it's perfect.

must concentrate

Lexi supervising

Don't look so bored, you are making cupcakes for goodness sake.

Ski season is here!!!!!

A-Basin opened on October 9, the earliest opening ever! Of course I was there with a huge smile.

I took Miles and met up with our good friends Brian, Sarah and Rowan. We took turns skiing and hanging in the lodge with Miles and Rowan.

Miles told me several times that he wanted to ski. I asked him to wait a few more weeks until they opne up a beginner run (or at least more than one run).

Riding up the lift with Brian, a true ski bum, out on the slopes less than 6 months after a ski accident and major brain injury. AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Miles testing out my gear.

Awwww yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It feels great to ski!!!!

Fire Safety

A couple of weeks ago was fire prevention week. The local firemen visited the kids' school and told them all about fire safety as well as giving them a tour of the fire truck. They also hosted an open house at another local school.

Jeremiah lead his brother, sister and Dad out of the smoke house through a window.

And down the stairs to safety.

Lexi trying her hand at the fire hose with a little support from Miles.

Miles loved this station and went back again on our way out.

Jeremiah knocked the cone right down.

The kids after Leslie took them on a tour of the ambulance. Let's hope the only time they get to see the inside of one of these is at an event like this.

The seat belt convincer pulls you back then you fly forward simulating a crash.

The air bag deploys, but the seat belt keeps you safe.

The State Troopers getting Miles all strapped in for his ride.

He was not to sure what to expect.

Eyes closed and smile on the whole time.

Jeremiah was smarted than the others thinking, why would I want to go on something that just wrecks. So the Patrolmen just had him come up and show them how he could buckle correctly, but he did not go for the ride. He said he was already convinced he should always wear his belt.

A couple of suprise visitors

Two weeks ago I heard some noises coming from the wood burning stove. I thought for sure we had a bird, so I opened up the flue hoping he would escape they same way he came in. After a good 30 minutes I had not heard any noises. I banged the stove a few times sure that if the bird was still there it would fly around. I heard nothing so I assumed it gone back out the top. I opened the door to start a fire, taking my time shredding newspaper and placing logs. I had a nice toasty fire going when Troy can home and I told him about hearing the wind and thinking it was a bird. A few minutes later I hear a scream from Miles and Troy says are you sure it wasn't a bird as I see a bird fly across our living room!

All five of us spent the next several minutes chasing the bird from Jeremiah's room to the living room. Screaming every time it flew as if we didn't know that is what it would do.

We had about 10 minutes of pure excitement from everyone as we tried to figure out how to get him out of our house.

Wow, this is CRAZY!!!

He really liked our nice big plant.

Then he found his way into Lexi's room. She went from running around and giggling to crying when he landed on her bed. We told her it would be ok as we closed her bedroom door and opened the back door. Thankfully, the bird quickly found his way out through the back door.

Whew, he's gone!

A few days ago, Troy was starting a fire and ANOTHER bird flew out and into the house.

This one also went right up to Jeremiah's room.

He tried to get comfy in Jeremiah's unmade bed. Then went and hid behind him bean bag.

I opened Jeremiah's bedroom window as Troy lifted the beanbag. The bird flew straight for the window and away he went.

Miles telling us how that bird almost landed on his head.
Let's hope the birds all go south for the winter soon and we don't have any more flying friends come inside for a visit!

Fall Harvest Festival

Last weekend we went down to visit Aunt Mimi and Uncle Mike at their new place in Denver.

Jeremiah, Lexi and Miles love to snuggle baby Harlynn.

We spent a good part of Saturday playing in their backyard.

Lexi read many books to Harlynn over the weekend.

We walked to a Fall Harvest Festival at a historic park a few blocks from Mandy's house.

Harlynn checking out the hay.

What a cute little pumpkin!!!!

Jeremiah played in the hay for about 20 minutes then couldn't stop sneezing and itching. We think the poor guy has a hay allergy.

Miles love the hay and tried to move it all around.

Giddy up Grandma!

Playing in the old wagon.

Everyone wanted a ride back to Aunt Mimi's house.

After a fun house warming party on Saturday night, we spent the night so we could go back to the festival on Sunday.

Dale, Grandma, Mandy, Jeremiah, Lexi and Miles went for a ride on this old stage coach.

They loved it.

Then we found the pumpkin patch and the kids picked out their pumpkins.

Trying to build a pumpkin man.
